Good evening, Fins families,

Thank you to all the Fins parents who came to tonight's HOA board meeting!

There were three board members present: Corey Wodarz, Meredith Brown, and Michael Driver. Absent were Dwayne Jacobs and Nancy Astrike. During the homeowners' forum Jess Simo started things off on a positive note, thanking the board for their continued financial support and giving a testimonial about the team's positive impact for her family. Seven pro-Fins speakers followed with their own additions, demonstrating both the depth of our feelings, the myriad ways that the swim team contributes to the neighborhood, and the wide range of families who support the team. 

The positive tone continued during swim team committee time. The board had not sent us any questions or requests, therefore there was no official report. One board member commented on the weather yesterday and asked whether we won the meet. The tone stayed positive and I took the chance to remind everyone that our July 4th potluck was open to the whole neighborhood. 

The collegial tone of tonight's discussion of the team was a marked departure from other recent meetings, particularly those held in February and May. It is also a change from the recent negative comments made by a board member at the pool. Hopefully our the efforts to clear up any misconceptions about team finances and the strong showing at the meeting will help promote positive cooperation between the team and the board.

Thank you again to all who attended. Filling the room with our supporters was a strong statement of our unity and commitment. If any families are able to attend future meetings, your support is both needed and welcome.
