Fins! Week 1 wrap, COVID questions, photos, and much more...
Hi Fins Families,
What a kick off to the 2022 season! The excitement in the eyes of swimmers, coaches, and parents was a sight to savor and hold.
Thank you for your patience while we iron out the details of managing so many kids and so much enthusiasm.
Remember, if you have concerns or feedback, please first share them with the parent reps. We need the coaches to focus on the swimmers during the practice hours. We really do appreciate your feedback and will continue to tune the experience as we go along.

COVID Questions?
We've been receiving questions about what to do if your swimmer has been exposed to, or tests positive for COVID-19. We will continue to follow CDC guidelines and are sharing those details here as an attachment and on our website.
Fins T-shirts and other merch
Our 2022 shirts with the design by our own Julian Douglas and our team drawstring bags with the design by our own Caroline Greenberg are in! We will continue to pass them out at practice. If you registered after 4/27, your swimmer's shirt will be in available when our second printing arrives. Fins caps and water bottles will arrive any day now. Special thanks to our sponsors, The Mad Popper, Fisher Corporate Law, Fully Promoted of Durham, and Triangle Acupuncture Clinic for their support!
Team Photos - June 4th
Our perennial photographer, John Elkins, will be onsite the morning of June 4th to take our team photo. Please make sure your swimmer is on deck in their meet swimsuit by 8:20AM. If you want individual photos of your swimmer(s), arrive by 8:00AM. We will be passing out order envelopes at practice the week before.
There will be no practice Memorial Day, Monday, May 30th
Special Volunteer Training
Everyone is special, but some volunteer roles require special training and thus, can be hard to come by. Fortunately, training is not. DSSL is offering two more training sessions via Zoom. The whole training is about 2.5 hours - 90 minutes for Stroke and Turn, 30 minutes for Starter, and 30 for Meet Director. See info below for meeting link and more detail.
Thanks for being a part of the Fins!

Officials Training
Training sessions will be via Zoom and will consist of Stroke and Turn, Starter and Meet Director training. Meet Directors must stay for the entire training. There will be a link at the end of training to confirm attendance.
Based on the past couple of years, I anticipate the Stroke and Turn portion will take about an hour to a hour and a half, Starter and Meet Director portions about 20-30 minutes each. I will try to be as efficient as possible!
Here are the dates and times of training:
Tuesday May 24 at 730 PM
Tuesday May 31 at 730 PM
Please encourage your parents not to wait until the last session if they can make an earlier one. Every year I have people message me that they couldn’t make the last session and requesting another session to be scheduled. Although I want everyone trained, adding on a session is not possible.
Zoom link is below and will be used for all training sessions: Please note passcode to get in. I'm not sure about how this will format through the Team Unify site, so if it does not go through correctly, I will find another way to send it to you.
Arleen Song is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting.
